Don't we have a luverly time
At Choir on Friday mornings?
We always arrive, at nine forty-five,
Fingers crossed for a space to park in.
Myra sits there
With her table and chair
Collecting fifty-pences
We really must say,
That it's not much to pay -
For so much fun!
It's really quite grand
When we all have to stand
For vocal exercises.
We all clear our throats,
sing all the right notes
But not necessarily in the right order.
Muriel, our conductor, says
We must sing with more conviction.
But we can't hit the high notes
And we can't reach the low notes
But we still have fun!
We've gathered lilacs with Lilli Marlene
In an English country garden.
Through Georgia we marched, feeling quite parched
That song has so many blooming verses.
Nightingales sang in Berkeley Square
For the girl we left behind us
Songs from the shows, anything goes!
When you're having fun.
Morag's fingers fly over the keys
The queen of the piano.
She plays the intros, that nobody knows
And the twiddly bits between the verses.
There's now more than ten
Of the Choir's Merry Men
They really sound impressive
I'm not one that frets
But you are teacher's pets!
But we all have fun.
A concert we gave
For the old and the brave
At Gifford House in Worthing.
We wore our red shirts, black trousers or skirts
We really looked like a proper choir.
Sang the old songs,
They all sang along,
We're sure we entertained them.
Found time for chats, and they loved Rita's hats
Which were so much fun.
So, yes,
we have a luverly time
At Choir on Friday mornings.
We've made lots of pals
'Mong the guys and the gals
Thanks for making us feel so welcome.
Muriel says we can only improve
It's something we can aim for
We've
so much to learn, but we've loved our first term -
It's been SO much fun!
